Six Newport spots. One very good day.
Coffee first. Harbor views next. A few coastal stops worth making time for.

The best Newport day doesn’t need a packed schedule. Start with good coffee, leave room for a waterfront lunch, and give the ocean the last word. These six stops bring a different side of the coast into focus.
Think of this as a shortlist, not a six-stop race. Pick a morning spot, an afternoon detour, and a place to catch the light. The space between plans is part of the point.
Alta Coffee

Skip the rush and give your morning a proper opening. Alta brings the coffeehouse side of Newport into the picture: coffee, an all-day breakfast option, and a reason not to go straight from your car to the beach.
Before you go: Find it at 506 31st Street. Check the current menu and hours before heading over.
Plan your visitBalboa Island Loop

For Newport without an agenda, take the island’s waterfront loop. Harbor views do the heavy lifting here. Put the phone away for a stretch, watch the boats, and let your coffee turn into a walk.
Before you go: The city lists a 1.7-mile paved loop. Give yourself extra time to find street parking.
Plan your visitMalibu Farm Lido

Make lunch the plan, not the pause between plans. The waterfront setting at Malibu Farm Lido is the move for a meal with a little harbor atmosphere. Leave time afterward to wander the village rather than rushing to the next stop.
Before you go: Find it at 3420 Via Oporto. Check current seating arrangements; dinner reservations are recommended.
Plan your visitCrystal Cove State Park

Trade the marina for a more open stretch of coastline. Crystal Cove is the pick when you want a beach walk to feel like an escape. Bring walking shoes, follow the designated access paths, and keep the pace unhurried.
Before you go: Parking fees apply. Check park conditions and access information, and leave tide-pool wildlife undisturbed.
Plan your visitInspiration Point

Some evenings don’t need a reservation. Head for the viewpoint at Ocean Boulevard and Orchid Avenue, take in the Pacific, and let the changing light be the occasion. A simple finish with a very Newport backdrop.
Before you go: Arrive before sunset to settle in. Stay within designated public areas and away from bluff edges.
Plan your visitThe Wedge

When the swell is up, this is Newport with the volume turned up. Come for the view, not a casual dip: The Wedge is known for powerful shore-breaking waves. Even on a quieter day, the peninsula’s end is a memorable ocean stop.
Before you go: Stay on dry sand, well back from the water. Conditions can be hazardous; follow lifeguard directions and never turn your back on the surf.
